June’s Hometown Hero selection process was short and sweet. You didn’t have to look too far to find a perfect choice this month. MHTS and CNY Awards & Apparel are proud to announce that Cheyenne Bumpus a sophomore pitcher for Stockbridge Valley’s softball team is June’s Hometown Hero.

Cheyenne recently was honored as a First-Team selection by the New York State Sports Writers Association to the Class D team. This is the second year and a row the budding star has been honored.

Stockbridge Valley won its first Class D Section III Championship with a victor over Oriskany. The Cougars saw their season come to a close with a loss to Afton, the state’s number two ranked team, in the Regional Finals. Stockbridge Valley ended up with a record of 22-3.

Cheyenne closed out the season with a record of 20-2 and struck out 279 batters on the season while walking just 19. Remarkable numbers indeed! Congratulations Cheyenne and good luck next year from MHTS and CNY Awards & Apparel.
