When it comes to the Whitesboro boys golf program it is no stretch to roll out the old saying, "the more things change the more things stay the same." Today at Hidden Valley Golf Club in Whitesboro coach Eugene Kaczor and his current crop of Warrior boys golfers showed Notre Dame and the rest of the Tri-Valley league that 2010 would be just like last season.

When the day was done, Whitesbboro (1-0) came home with a score of 195, while Notre Dame hit the showers after carding a 210.

Whitesboro's Joel Jakubowicz, a freshman, burst on to the local scene in a big way, carding a match best 36 to lead his team, while junior David Egresits, a TVL First Team All-Star last season, came home just one shot behind his teammate with a solid 37.
Egresits is, according to coach Kaczor a key member of the 2010 squad. The longtime Whitesboro coach, who enters his 40th season, feels Egresits needs to be consistent and lead the way until the promising young guns on the roster hit their stride.
Egresits finished up league competition in 2009 with an average score of 39.5 strokes per outing.

(Notre Dame's Ryan Wuest watches his shot float toward the second hole.)
The Warriors do have five returning starters to lead the way in 2010 and they need to be on top of their game early.
The returning quintet includes, senior John O’Dell, juniors David Egresits and Bradee Holtslag. Returning sophomores Kyle Kupiec and Chuck Coppola are also coming back from last year’s squad.
Gone from last year's undefeated team (20-0), TVL Champs and Section III Class A2 Champs, are departed senior leaders Dustin Farley and John Gaspa.
This year the Warriors are trying to make it a "fourpeat" by winning the league and sectional titles. The tradition rich program is loaded with talent and eager to oblige the Warrior faithful.

(Notre Dame's Roman Pendrak lofts a wedge into the second green.)
Following young mister Jakubowicz and Dave Egresits on the score card was John Odell, who came home with a 39, and Bradee Holtslag who shot an even 40.
Whitesboro and New Hartford are once again expected to be vying for honors in the always tough TVL.
Coach John DePerno and his Jugglers have a lot to smile about when their team hit the club house at 210. Freshmen Mike Kalil gave his coach plenty of reasons to look toward a good season by filling out his card with a 37 to be one of three, meet medalists.
Other Jugglers to fare well in the road match were, junior Patrick Reilly, who shot a solid 41, and fellow junior Chris LeoGrande, who found his way home with a score of 42.
Up next for Notre Dame (0-1) is a home match at Twin Ponds against Oneida on Friday afternoon. The Warriors are back in action tomorrow afternoon at VVS. VVS plays their home matches at Sherrill Community Golf Club.
